Films that move people. And policy.

I’m Nathan, a political economist and film director, who specialises in turning policy ideas into cinematic stories.

I come from policy.

I trained and worked as a policy analyst. Filmmaking is how I take that work beyond the expert bubble.

Policy research on

  • An investment programme for Europe’s industrial competitiveness (IG Metall, 2025)
  • Responsible supply chains for renewable energy technology (Deutsche Umwelthilfe, 2024)
  • How private equity is changing the private military industry (RUG, 2024)
  • ECB credit guidance and French post-war lending policy (RUG, 2023)

Education

  • M.A. International Political Economy
  • M.Sc. Philosophy, Politics and Economics
  • B.A. International Relations
  • B.A. Philosophy

I know how to keep an audience hooked.

Plot, characters, suspense. Years of narrative filmmaking have taught me how to keep people on the edge of their seats. I bring that craft to every policy film.

How I work

  • I understand the policy issues in detail.

I join your team for the length of the project and read what you read. I dig into the data, case studies and fine print to understand the policy idea inside out.

  • I give the key facts a cinematic form.

I choose the strongest arguments to make your case and then weave them into a story that will make people care.

  • I lead the production, from script to final cut.

I know how to build a production from the ground up, drawing on a network of industry professionals built over years. So every film looks bigger than its budget.
